Sebastian Blasius

Registered Foreign Lawyer

Sebastian is a seasoned commercial attorney with almost a decade of post-qualification experience in Singapore. A German lawyer by training, he has a particular focus on companies from the DACH region and their SouthEast Asian group entities.

Throughout his career, Sebastian has provided legal advice to organisations of all sizes and stages of life – from nascent start-ups to well-established entities, and from sole proprietorships to global corporations. His expertise ranges from providing comprehensive support in key areas of commercial law, to drafting contracts between global players, and playing a leading role in their contract negotiations. In addition, Sebastian routinely manages cross-border projects with teams of lawyers from different jurisdictions. Being an IAPP Certified Information Privacy Professional for Asia and Europe, Sebastian also acts as data protection officer for his clients.

Sebastian’s educational career has been marked by excellence, with a consistent record of being in the top ranks of his class. He maintains a strong academic interest, and regularly publishes insights on legal developments in local and cross-border domains, or delivers lectures, seminars, and training courses on these subjects.

Sebastian is fluent in German and English. In his spare time, he is committed to achieving proficiency in Spanish, as well.

Prior to joining Gateway, Sebastian was a partner in one of the largest German-based law firms in Southeast Asia and headed its Singapore data protection practice.
