Stuart has a wide range of experience in civil and commercial litigation, spanning from the pursuit of asset-tracing and freezing injunctions, shareholder disputes, disputes on breaches of directors’ duties, fraud, complex family trust disputes, and other general civil and commercial litigation matters. He also has experience in construction litigation pertaining to building and construction works, delays and defects (including proceedings under the Building and Construction Industry Security of Payments Act), has acted for clients in proceedings involving infringements of the Competition Act 2004.

Stuart also deals with employment and technology-related matters on both contentious and non-contentious fronts, providing advice for clients on how to navigate the changing regulatory landscape for both employment and technology-related issues.

For example, in a recent High Court dispute, he acted for a group of 80 users of a collapsed cryptocurrency exchange, successfully obtaining summary judgement against the exchange and compensation for the users of over USD 10 million. He has also provided advice to tech-startups on the provision of services using generative AI as well as the provision of payments services under Singapore’s Payment Services Act 2019.

Stuart’s philosophy in advancing in his clients’ interests in matters is to pursue “the path of least resistance” to attainment of the client’s objectives, which allows him to provide practical, commercial-minded advice to clients for the efficient resolution of their matters. He also has an active interest in acting for clients pro bono, in collaboration with non-profit organisations such as Probono SG.
