Teoh Su Yin

Director

Su Yin obtained her bachelor’s and master’s law degrees from the National University of Singapore and is dual qualified (Singapore and England & Wales). She started her career in law as a litigator. Thereafter, she was involved in a broad range of non-contentious corporate, banking and finance work for a diverse clientele. After a decade as a Big Four Singapore law firm partner with a primarily general banking and finance practice, she lawyered in-house (including as general counsel to two research institutes) while engaging in teaching and research endeavours. Governance and risk management were a significant part of Su Yin’s in-house legal work, and she employed facilitative training and process facilitation as means to manage legal risks.

Su Yin’s varied experience enables her to offer a holistic approach to legal risk management and strategic legal guidance. Today, she focusses on providing the following services to clients:

♦ Local counsel support in cross-border general banking and finance transactions

♦ General counsel services to businesses and organisations, in particular entities in the education and research & development sectors

Amongst other things, Su Yin advises on, and drafts/reviews documents relating to, business and deal structures, financing arrangements, corporate governance, employment and day-to-day corporate/commercial matters.

♦ Data protection support services

These include conceptualising and implementing data protection policies and processes which take into account domain-specific, and clients’ organisational, requirements. Su Yin is an IAPP Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP/A).

♦ Training

Su Yin oversees the law corporation’s client-facing learning and development projects and, as part of her own practice, continues to assist clients with law-related training. Learning objectives are mapped to the Singapore Skills Framework and other competency frameworks as required. Su Yin’s learning and development credentials include a Master of Education (Developmental Psychology) from Singapore’s National Institute of Education, and WSQ ACLP and DACE certification.
